Notes Handbook for making astrological predictions based on the conjunctions of the planets and the lunar nodes in the various signs of the zodiac. A marginalium beside the title at the head of f. 23v gives the text an alternative short title: The Book of Judgements. Sezgin ( List of Arabic letters , vol. 7 [Leiden: Brill, 1979], p. 144, item 5) suggests that the material in this book might be attributable to Abū Maʻshar al-Balkhī (Abu Maʻshar al-Balkhī, d. 886) or Abū al-Qāsim al-Balkhī (Abu al-Qāsim al-Balkhī, fl. ca 900), both of whom subsequently appear in the present manuscript (see ff. 162r-184v and 211v). This text is numbered 4 (d) in the present collection. Beginnings (f. 23v, lines 7-10): Combinations in Aries Jupiter Compare Saturn indicates the killing of a great king The bad behavior of kings, with frequent and few droughts Transplantation... Ends (f. 50r, lines 13 and edge margin) The moon indicates rain and humidity and invasion and abundance in the Levant The water in the rivers and the abundance of birds and fish, and God knows best and is the wisest, were fulfilled by the praise and good grace of God Almighty
