Notes
The name of the author is not mentioned in the copy, and the book is attributed to Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Abi Bakr Al-Zuhri, who died in the middle of the sixth century AH. We rule out this attribution since the last copy states that the date of writing the book dates back to the year 692 of the Messenger’s mission (i.e., around 679 AH). This classification included - as stated in its introduction - a mention of “the regions of the earth and the creatures in them, and their description and characteristics, and their food and drink in all their countries... and what is in every region of antiques, perfumes, perfumes, luggage, and goods...” There are copies of this manuscript in (the British Museum Library No. 25743 DD - the French Institute for Arab Studies in Damascus published the book Geography edited by Muhammad Haj Sadiq, 1968 - see the Journal of the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts, Volume 17, Part Two, pp. 208-209, and Relics of the Arab-Islamic Heritage, Part One, p. 555).

Praise be to God, who is the best with which to begin speech... After thanking God, I copied this geography from the copy that was copied from the copy of the Commander of the Faithful Harun al-Rashid from the geography of al-Fazari, which ninety Iraqi philosophers gathered to work on.
