Notes A piece of Al-Maqrizi's plans. This fragment begins with something that is not in the printed copy in Bulaq in the year 1270, according to the “mention of the history of the Caliph,” that is, from Q9a and corresponding to 1:250 of the printed copy. The hall ends with the Western Palace sentence and the corresponding 1:458 of the print. As for the sections that are not in the printed version, they are: Q1B Mention of the religion the Copts followed until they became Christians. Q3a Mention of the Copts’ entry into the religion of Christianity - so that the discussion of the history of the Caliph begins. Our copy contains some texts that were not included in the printed matter, as was quoted in Q59b or the equivalent of 1:296 immediately before mentioning the plans that were in the city of Fustat, which is as follows: “Al-Bakri said that Fustat, with the first part joined and its kasra, and the second inhabited, is the name of Egypt.” He quoted another sentence and then wrote on it with a pen. There is sometimes a void in the copy that has been left to be filled. The copy appears to be the author's copy.
