Praise be to God who has beautified the understanding with sound thought and good knowledge... As for what follows, the poor man says... Since the most honorable and proud of the sciences and the highest in status and value is the science of interpretation... I chose to speak about the verse [And your Lord will give you, and you will be satisfied] because of what it contains for the nation of human beings... So we say... It is no secret that the scholars... with regard to the science of interpretation are the expressions of the saying of the scholar Abu Hayyan.
