Notes The book is an Arabization of the Sultan’s astronomical marriage, Agha Bey. It is organized into four articles: -The first article: On knowledge of dates, which includes an introduction and seven chapters. -The second article: On knowing the times of horoscope and what is related to it. It contains twenty-two chapters. The third article: On knowing the path of the planets, their positions in length and latitude, and their consequences. It includes thirteen chapters. -The fourth article: On the rest of the star works, which includes two chapters. The Arabizer explained in the preamble to the book that he did not Arabize Chapter Six of the first article “because of its length and lack of usefulness,” even though this chapter exists in the version we are considering. The copy contains eight tables that intersperse the text of the book, although the copyist did not complete a number of the tables, as is evident from the whiteness left on many pages of the copy. The body of the book is followed by a group of thirty-nine tables. There are copies of this manuscript. See (Dar al-Kutub al-Misriyah, 52 Miqat - Catalog of Illustrated Manuscripts, Part 3, First Section, p. 33).
Sample Text Praise be to God who created the heavens and the earth and made darkness and light... As for what follows, the poor servant says... When God Almighty bestowed upon me in the year fourteen thousand after the Hijra the conjunction of the two verified signs... Muhyi al-Din Abd al-Qadir bin Muhammad al-Husseini al-Tabari al-Makki, the imam of the noble shrine and the sheikh of fatwas and teaching according to the doctrine of Imam al-Shafi’i… and Sheikh… Shihab al-Din Ahmad bin al-Fadil Abi Katheer al-Makki al-Shafi’i… So they read to me an explanation.
