Notes
It is attributed in his card to Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani al-Shafi’i, but it is an illusion on his part. The copyist wrote the text generally in black ink, and used red ink to write the chapters, some titles, and words such as: ((CAUTION)) and ((CONCLUSION)) and so on, on a newly made ink. Copies: Two copies are in the King Faisal Center in Riyadh. See Brockelmann 2/389 and its appendix 2/528 and Index Khudabakhsh 12/100, where other copies and editions are mentioned. 1Perhaps it is: ((so we pray)).

(Praise be to God who singled out the scholars for the inheritance of the prophets...), and then two years ago in honorable Mecca, may God increase it in honor, honor, majesty, awe, and glorification, a man of the virtuous and righteous men of Constantinople came to us by combining the traditional and rational sciences, medical and official laws, the sciences of morals and doctrines, and the agents and demands.
