The book is an explanation of the law called Irḥāz al-Maknounāt li An-ṣaṣṭ al-Fingers. The author mentioned in the introduction that his book is a continuation of Muhammad ibn Masoud al-Shirazi’s explanation of the Book of Colleges, and that he served with it the bookstore of Sultan Abu al-Husayn Muhammad al-Kurt ibn al-Sa’id, but he did not mention his name. The universals are the first section of the book Al-Qanun fi al-Tibb. Haji Khalifa (1313/2) mentioned that Al-Shirazi’s explanation of the universals was incomplete in two places, and the phrase revealing in this place is misleading, and I say: Perhaps the one who completed it, summarized it, and explained it was Al-Amli in the year 753 AH. The manuscript is annotated, with red punctuation marks, a red line on the text, corrections, and numbers on some of the margins.

When God Almighty enabled me to move toward knowledge and to be with its companions, and to continue serving the door of its masters, and to imitate according to my ability and the assistance of time, I was determined to acquire it and did not reach the tenth mark, and now I have reached the age of seventy, and I have not exerted any effort in fulfilling my request and seeking God, except for the obstacles of calamities and diseases.
