Notes
In it, the author translates all the notable linguists and grammarians from various Islamic nations, starting with the Muhammadans and then with the Ahmadids. The rest of the translations are arranged according to the letters of the dictionary in the Levantine manner, and he mentions the date of death in most cases, and sometimes the date of birth. Most of them are short biographies, such as the translations cited by Al-Suyuti in “The Good Lecture” by the notables of Egyptian thought. He mentioned to us his references in his preamble, including: “Tabaqat Al-Basri Grammarians” by Abu Saeed Al-Sirafi. And the book “Ratābib al-Nahwāhiyyin” by Abu al-Tayyib Abd al-Wahid ibn Ali al-Halabi, and “Tabaqat al-Nuhāhī” by Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Zubaidi, then “Al-Lughah fi Tabaqāt al-Imām al-Lughā” by Judge Majd al-Din al-Fayrouzabadi, and after that he mentions to us a large number of historical works, of which he says he has read more than three hundred volumes. This book was mentioned in: Brockelmann: S. II 195. 277c - S.I. 158 - G.II. 156.. and P. Boigues 92.
