Oh God, I thank you for what you have bestowed upon me of your grace and for what you have removed from me of your wrath, even though I was not worthy of the first and would have been more deserving of the second had it not been for your grace. One who precedes praises the praiseworthy and sees him being cruel, and if he is punished, it is as if I were chained and treated with cruelty.
