Notes
The copy did not mention the name of the author, and the copyist merely wrote this phrase under the title of the book: Written by Sheikh Al-Imam and Al-Haysoub Al-Hammam... Al-Baghdadi mentioned it in Idḥāt al-Maknoun, and attributed it to Ridwan (bin Abdullah), the Egyptian astronomer who died in the year 1122 AH/1613 AD, as stated in the Dictionary of Authors. The book is organized into four sections: - The first section, on knowing the three dates (Arabic, Coptic, and Roman). -Chapter Two, on knowing the sun’s denominator. -Chapter Three, on knowing the transformation of the sun. This chapter is followed by tables numbering about one hundred and three. The copyist may be the author himself.
