Notes
indistinct watermarks (European)؛ The manuscript Tur 6b follows on ff. 90b-159a. Catchwords, marginalia in red ink indicate chapter headings or give additional information (qānūn, fetvā). The work goes back to a ferman of Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent (1520-66) of 1541, after he had taken Budin (Hungary), on the legal situation of local re‘āyā. Later the work was expanded. Other copies are mentioned in Türk. Hss. vols. 1 (nos. 352-357), 3 (no. 114), 4 (nos. 110-113). The sketches on ff. 74b and 75a seem to be a feature which various copies of the work have in common.
