[It is a book on Sabian astrology] in the Sabian language, a photocopy of a handwritten copy in the Mandaean bookstore of Ghadhban al-Rumi, the Sabian (the Sabian), in Baghdad. Dr. Rushdi Alyan mentioned in his article “The Mandaean Spiritualists or Sabeans”: (“Al-Mawrid” 5 [Baghdad - Summer 1974] issue 2; pp. 60-73), it was stated in the [Mandaean Holy Books] paragraph: “The Book of Malwashah: that is, the Book of the Zodiac. It is written for the purposes of astrology and astronomy: and the clergy use it to know the events of the coming year, and to know the sign in which the person was born, so they deduce his holy name. “Al-Malwashah” means the horoscope of the newborn. The book also contains various supplications and sayings that the Mandaeans use to expel calamities and keep diseases away.
