Notes This is the name of the book as the author mentioned it in his sermon, and its name appeared on the first page of the copy: Al-Durr Al-Manthur, Summary of Ghayat Al-Surur. It is a summary of the book Ghayat al-Surur fi Sharh Diwan al-Shadhur by the same author. This book also includes a poem attributed to Abu Al-Hasan Ali Al-Ansari, the author of the collection of poems. Its beginning is: Take to you knowledge, a man*** and after it will come work. Its conclusion is: A tall stone in its center*** The essence of what I lived I symbolize, and in the cave of the heart I concentrate it*** It cannot be burned by fire. All of creation has neglected him. After this poem, an advice to whoever reads this book, then a joke copied from the explanation of the Commander of the Muslim Armies, Ahmad ibn Qart, on the Diwan al-Shadhur, then a restriction that includes the description of the management of hidden vitriol.
Sample Text The virtuous sage said... Aid Mar bin Ali Aidmar Al-Jaldaki... Praise be to God, the Holy King, peace... And after that, noble wisdom is the treasure of God Almighty for every known occurrence in the previous division.
