Notes The copyist wrote the text generally in black ink, and used red ink to write titles throughout the text and repeatedly in the footnotes ((and in everything he wanted to clarify)), and to place underlines some phrases inside tables colored with red ink, except for the first and second pages, for which the copyist used red and green ink, all of this on a newly made scribe. The first and last of which is the seal of Habib Kanj’s library. This copy of ours was described in the Aligarh Index 353/2 Descriptive Catalog with the same preservation number. Copies: Among them is a copy in Index Khudabakhsh 15/86, with mention of its copies in the various treasure troves. See: Descriptive Index 1/70 and Brockelmann 2/381.
Sample Text The second chapter mentions the Rightly Guided Caliphs and the Caliphs of the Umayyads and the Abbasids... Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, may God be pleased with him, was mentioned. It is said: His name in pre-Islamic times was Abdul Kaaba, so the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, called him Abdullah such and such in ((Al-Mawahib Al-Ludaniyya)) and ((Al-Mukhtasar Al-Jami’) and others, and it was said: His name is Atiq bin Abi Quhafa Othman bin Amer.
