The story of the monk and the monks. In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. It was narrated on the authority of Ibn Ishaq, on the authority of Salman al-Farisi, may God be pleased with them both. He said: When the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, died and the king of the caliphate, Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, may God be pleased with him, led the Muslims to the best of standing. The narrator said: While he was sitting in his mihrab one day, and he was telling us and we were telling him about a hadith he had heard from the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, he said: While we were like that, a monk was coming from the Levant. And with him were two thousand monks
