Notes A small book. Its author mentions in its preface that during his reign, a book was written from Istanbul in which he introduced it and its kings. It talks about the state of the Ottoman Sultan Othman bin Ahmed in the year 1029 AH, and his effort to resume jihad against the infidels. This is followed by a description of the city of Istanbul. Then he begins talking about the Takmadr state by mentioning the two sheikhs, Moulay Muhammad and his brother Ahmed, and their affiliation to the nobility, which is what the author mentions. Their appearance in Sus, and their rise when the command was strong to besiege Fez and Meknes, then their seizure of Fez with the help of the Turkish soldiers, whom the Sultan sent to fulfill their supremacy. In exchange for an annual tribute that he pledged to pay, the author then presents us with a long talk about the Christianized Arabs of Andalusia, and their appeal to Moulay Abdullah Ould Sultan for help from the horrific persecution they are facing at the hands of the Spaniards. He concludes by talking about the state of Moulay Muhammad, then his son Muhammad al-Sheikh, and then about the state of Moulay Zidane in Marrakesh.
