I wrote a footnote on it along these lines... Al-Mas, may God have mercy on him, said after he recited the basmalah in compliance with the noble rules and in imitation of the upright hadith, O He who has guided us to the tasks of research, change what is well-known by beginning with the word “Praise be to God” out of concern for the art of Westernization.
