Notes A volume on which it is mentioned in Moroccan script that it is the first of Ibn Hibban’s Classes of the Pious, but it is definitely not the first, as it is the second century. In it, he mentioned the followers according to the letters of their names, then mentioned the nicknames in no order, starting with Bishr bin Asim Al-Laithi. The footnote includes comments and follow-ups to the author's statements. His commentator is the commentator of the next part, which is Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Khadr al-Arbali al-Sufi.
Sample Text Abu Hatim, may God Almighty have mercy on him, said, “We have filled in what we have attended of mentions of trustworthy followers, their names, and what is known of their times and lineages, with what I hope is rich in it for the meditator if he contemplates it. Every sheikh that I have mentioned in this book is truthful, and it is permissible to use his narration as evidence if his report is exposed to five characteristics. If there is an objectionable piece of news about a sheikh from among these sheikhs whose names [their names] have been mentioned in this book, then that piece of news is indistinguishable from one of five characteristics: it is either superior to the sheikh who I mentioned it in this chapter as a weak sheikh... or a weak sheikh, without it... or the narration may be mursal... or it may be interrupted... or there is a distorted sheikh in the chain of narration... so if the narration is found to be devoid of these five qualities, then it is not permissible to refute it rather than use it as evidence. Then we remember after this third century those who were seen by the followers in all the regions, on the example of those we mentioned before them from the first two classes, if God decrees that and wills it.
