Notes
In the following two papers are three tables: two of which explain the nature of metal bodies, their shapes, symbols, and metonyms, and the third shows the origins of ratios and scales. These tables are followed by additional chapters that end with these phrases: “And patience in fighting fire in foundry and not being patient with it, and accepting fever and not accepting it, and purity and filth, and the goodness of broken things and its badness, so understand.” The author arranged this book into four parts, each part having an introduction, chapters, chapters, and a conclusion. This edition is headed by an index of the book's contents. The modern section of the copy (from folios 1b to 139a) is written in the “Zaydani” script, copied by order of Sultan Moulay Hassan I, and the rest of the leaves are written in an old script whose name is not mentioned.
