Excerpted from the book “Bahr al-Ulum”, which is: Chapter on the virtues of the first ten days of Muharram (or Dhu al-Hijjah) and the virtues of the day of Ashura, and an explanation of Joseph’s separation from Jacob. On the margins are some statements and demands. On folio 182b is what it says: “The one who committed it, Muhammad Nusayba al-Khazraji, asked for forgiveness and the mercy of his master... with forgiveness and gratitude, Amen, in the year 226.” And also: “The guilty person sought the gift of God Almighty, Ismail bin Abd Al-Fattah, his relative Al-Khazraji, hoping for the pardon and mercy of his master... Dhul-Qi’dah in the year 1292.”

Chapter on the virtue of the ten days. Abu Al-Layth Al-Samarqandi, may God have mercy on him, said: The jurist Abu Jaafar told us, Ali bin Ahmad said: Muhammad bin Al-Fudayl told us, Abdullah bin Umair told us, on the authority of Al-Amash, on the authority of Muslim Al-Bateen, on the authority of Saeed bin Jubayr, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “There are no days in which good deeds are more beloved to God Almighty than these ten days.” They said, O Messenger of God
