The author was born in the village of Shaqra (from the village of Marjayoun in Jabal Amel), and learned there. Then he moved to Najaf, returned to Syria, settled in Damascus, and worked in teaching, preaching, and issuing fatwas. He died there. He was a prolific author. Among his books were: Shiite Notables, which are in (35) volumes, a collection of poetry, Impervious Fortresses, Minerals of Jewels, Sunni Councils, and others. In addition to this book, which is a book of biographies of Shiite poets and their chronicles, the author begins by mentioning Ibn Tufayl Al-Kinani and ending with Marwan bin Muhammad Al-Saruji, in which the author summarized the book “Akhbar Al-Shia Poets” by Muhammad bin Imran bin Musa Al-Marzbani, who died in the year 384 AH/994 AD.
