Now then: The reason for writing this treatise, which was compiled by the poor and despicable person, Abd al-Rahman al-Munajjim ibn Abi Yusuf al-Hafiz, is that he was busy with astrology and learned from his perfect teacher, the astrologer Yazdan Bakhsh, known as Kojak, and after him he acquired the knowledge of medicine... and read medical books from the greatest sages and most perfect of virtues.
