The letter includes five poems: The first is in 24 verses, the second is in eight verses, the third is in twenty verses, the fourth is in sixteen verses, and the fifth is in eleven verses.
Perhaps the author is Muhammad ibn Omar ibn Muhammad al-Maqdisi, known as the scholar Saad al-Din, a Sufi poet who was born in Jerusalem and resided in Damascus for a period of time, performing Hajj and in the vicinity. He returned to Jerusalem and died there in the year 1038 AH/1629 AD. He wrote a collection of poetry and others (see Dictionary of Authors 11/94).
