Al-Hafiz Abu Nu`aym, may God be pleased with him, narrated with his chain of transmission to Al-Fadl ibn Al-Rabi’, the companion of Harun Al-Rashid, that he said: Al-Rashid sent for me one night, and I came to him, and when I entered upon him, I found in his hands sharpened swords and various types of instruments of torture.
