Taqi al-Din Abd al-Ghani bin Abd al-Wahid bin Surur al-Jama`ili al-Maqdisi wrote the book “Umdat al-Ahkam min Kalam Khair al-Anam” and arranged it under the chapters of jurisprudence and made it into 500 hadiths. Imad al-Din Ibn al-Atheer explained it and called it “Sharh Umdat al-Ahkam,” and this is an explanation of it. With footnotes, comments, additions, corrections, and explanations.

The eminent jurist, the eminent Sadr, the great, the perfect, the beauty of the virtues, the eminent leader, Imad al-Din Ismail bin al-Qadi, the eminent al-Sadr, the perfect president, Taj al-Din Ahmad bin Ismail bin Muhammad bin al-Atheer al-Shafi’i al-Halabi, said, by origin, Moroccan by lineage, may God benefit him, benefit him, and have mercy on him... And after that, since knowledge is the most honorable and dearest thing created in existence... I chose to memorize the book known as “Al-Umdah” by Imam Al-Hafiz Abdul Ghani, may God have mercy on him, who arranged it in the chapters of jurisprudence.
