(Continuations and objections to Al-Sunan Al-Kubra by Al-Bayhaqi, d. 458 AH) The copyist wrote its text on a newly made inscription. The first is the translation of Al-Bayhaqi on two pages added to the copy. His card stated: ((This manuscript was transferred in the year 1290 by order of Nawab Rampur Kalb Ali Khan)). As for what follows, these are the benefits that I attached to the major Sunan of Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr Al-Bayhaqi, may God Almighty have mercy on him. Most of them are objections to him, discussions for him, and discussions with him. My success is only in God. In Him I trust and to Him I turn. Al-Bayhaqi said: Chapter on purification with sea water. I said, Al-Qazzaz’s words in ((Al-Jami’) imply that the name “bahr” originally refers to salty and that fresh is called that.
