“The narrator of the copy attributed it to Abu al-Ism ibn Askar, who read it to Abu al-Hussein Ubayd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Bayhaqi, the grandson of the author, and ibn Asakir’s narration on the authority of al-Bayhaqi on the authority of Abu Abdullah al-Qarawi, and the beginning of the book: “The Book of the Names of God, Glory be to Him and His Attributes... Chapter on Proving the Names of God Almighty by mentioning Him in exchange for the Qur’an and the Sunnah and the consensus of the Imams..”
