The first four volumes, including this second, are from an original book whose volumes reached twenty volumes but was not completed (Kashf al-Zunun, vol. 1, column 179), and a manuscript copy of it in twenty volumes actually exists in Istanbul (Ashir Effendi Library). This second volume contains the following: The lineage of Banu Abd Shams bin Abd al-Manaf, news of the Kharijites in the days of Muawiyah, the son of Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan, mention of the affairs of Hussein bin Ali, Abdullah bin Omar and Ibn al-Zubayr in the pledge of allegiance to Yazid bin Muawiyah, the siege of Ibn al-Zubayr in Mecca in the days of Yazid, news of the Day of the Pit in Basra, the affairs of Uthman bin Affan, his virtues, biography and death, the affairs of Amr bin al-Aas and others, the vision of Uthman, may God be pleased with him. And his death, the news of the day of Marj Rahit, the matter of Abdullah bin Al-Zubayr in the days of Abdul-Malik bin Marwan and the events in his strife, the matter of Al-Mukhtar bin Abi Ubaidullah Al-Thaqafi, the killing of Omar bin Saad bin Abi Waqqas and those who committed polytheism in the blood of Hussein, Musab bin Al-Zubair bin Al-Awwam and his killing, the matter of Abdullah bin Al-Zubair in the days of Abdul-Malik and his killing, the matter of the Kharijites between the death of Yazid bin Muawiyah and the rule of Abdul Malik bin Marwan. Professors Pinto and Dellavid translated the section on the caliphate of Muawiyah into Italian. This book was mentioned in:
