The eminent sheikh and scholar, Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Abi Nasr al-Humaydi, recited to me verbally. He said, Abu Muhammad Abdullah bin Uthman bin Marwan al-Amri recited to me. He told me in Gharbiyah in Andalusia, may God have mercy on him. He said: The writer Abu Ahmad Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Malik bin Idris, known as Ibn al-Jaziri, recited to me on the authority of al-Wazir Ibn, may God have mercy on him. Al-Mansur, the Emir of Andalusia, Abu Aamir Muhammad bin Aamir, had arrested him in a castle and wrote to his sons with this poem, saddened by them and longing for them. He advises them about it and teaches them about it, the first of which is:
