The author categorizes his book in the preamble, saying, “In my book, for all classes, I have collected types of expressions from the writers of letters and collections, far from suspicion and ambiguity... that are carried on metaphor and allusion according to the sects of writers and people of rhetoric, without the sects of the exaggerated and eloquent of the polite and polite people, and the arrogant ones, which are far from the point of being close to the understanding, in every art of correspondence, taken from the books of letters and correspondences. And the mouths of the people... and the gatherings of the leaders, and a selection of notebooks and the works of scholars. The author divided every subject he dealt with into a chapter until his book reached 382 chapters. This copy was in the treasury of Al-Maliki Al-Mansouri Al-Ash’ari, and the author’s name was written on its title page.
