This book includes two parts. The first part ends on folio 195/a, and the second part begins on folio 196/b. The font, number of lines, and scale are changed in the second part, and at the end of the first part, Ahmed bin Hamza’s reading in the year 1037 AH is recorded. In its margins there are corrections, comments, and side titles, and at the end there are benefits on three pages.

Praise be to God, who remains, and every created thing perishes... As for what follows: The weak servant Ahmad ibn Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Muhammad... ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, of Egyptian origin, of birth, of Cairo, of Dar al-Dar: This is a commentary in which I collected the events of the time that I have perceived since my birth in the year seven hundred and seventy-three, and so on, detailing in each year the conditions of countries regarding the deaths of notables, absorbing the narrators of the hadith, especially those whom I met or permitted to me... And I called it: News of the immersion in the children of the age.
