Notes
Al-Shamsia is a brief text on logic by Najm al-Din Omar bin Ali al-Qazwini, known as al-Katibi. It was explained by Qutb al-Din Muhammad bin Muhammad al-Tahtani (who died in the year 766) in a good explanation that was widely circulated among students. The first of which was that Abhi Durar Tanzam...etc. He called it “Liberation of the Logical Rules from the Explanation of al-Shamsia.” Our book is a report on this explanation by al-Adawi. The author’s full name was not inferred, so we contented ourselves with what was stated on the title page of the manuscript. He said: The completion of this book, which I heard from our Sheikh Al-Adawi on Wednesday, the last of Shaban in the year 1170 AH, was the completion of his interview with the mother from which it was copied in the history of the copyist.
