The jurist Abu Al-Layth, may God have mercy on him, said: Nasr bin Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al-Samarqandi said: A brother (told us) Abu Jaafar Muhammad bin Al-Fadl, he said: A brother of Muhammad bin Jaafar Al-Karabisi, he said: A brother of Ibrahim bin Yusuf, he said: Waki’ told us, on the authority of Sufyan Al-Thawri, on the authority of Abu Ishaq, on the authority of Murrah Al-Hamdhani, he said: Ibn Masoud, may God be pleased with him, said: Whoever wants knowledge, let him recite the Qur’an, for in it is the knowledge of the first and the last.
