As for what follows, the mount of goodness in this world and the hereafter is piety, and the mount of evil is following one’s desires. Chapter: Piety is obeying God’s commands and avoiding His prohibitions, and their virtues are fifteen, deduced from the Qur’an: guidance, according to the Almighty’s saying: [Guidance for the righteous], and victory, according to His saying: [Indeed, God is with those who fear God]. And guardianship, as he says: [And God is the protector of the righteous]. And love for his saying: [God loves the righteous]
