Notes
The book is a collection of the pious ascetic scholar Shuaib bin Hussein Al-Ansari Al-Andalusi, who died in the year 594 AH, and known as Abu Madin. It was written by its author in fulfillment of the desire of some of his friends, during the month of Ramadan in the year 787 AH in the city of Constantine. He begins talking in it about dignity and the dignity of saints, then deals with the biography of Abu Madin, mentioning his birth and upbringing in Andalusia, then his crossing to Morocco and taking him from his sheikhs, especially Sheikh Ubayy. He is attributed to his following the path of Sufism, and mentioning his famous companions, then the news and fame of him reached the Almohad Caliph (Yaqub al-Mansur) and his summoning of him from Bejaia, his illness on the way, his death near Tlemcen, and his burial in the Al-Abbad suburb, where his tomb is located to this day. There is a copy of it in the Egyptian House of Books, 303 collections. The book “Anas al-Faqir and Ezz al-Haqir” was carefully published by Professors Muhammad al-Fassi and Adolf Faur, and was issued by the Faculty of Arts at Mohammed V University (Rabat in 1965 AD).
