- It was stated in the “Arab Heritage News Bulletin”: Institute of Arabic Manuscripts, issued on May 1, 1973, that Professor Ibrahim Hassan Ibrahim: Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Arabic Language at Al-Azhar University, is preparing a doctoral dissertation, the subject of which is: Investigation of (Tuhfat al-Gharib and Sharh Mughni al-Labib by al-Damamini), [he visited the Institute] and reviewed the manuscripts related to his subject. - The title was mentioned in other references: (Tuhfat al-Gharib bi Sharh Mughni al-Labib). See: (revealing suspicions). - Mughni Al-Labib, on the books of Arabs, on grammar. By Jamal al-Din Abu Muhammad Abdullah bin Yusuf, known as Ibn Hisham al-Nahwi (d. 761 AH = 1360 AD). It is a book of great significance and brilliant proof. It became famous during his lifetime and people loved it. Printed more than once. See (The Enough of Contentment, p. 307.) Dictionary of Arabic Publications, pp. 275-276). - The author is: a scholar of Sharia and literary arts, a grammarian, and a prosody artist. He was born in Alexandria, settled in Cairo, attended Ibn Khaldun, and began reciting Arabic at Al-Azhar. Then he moved to Damascus, from which he performed Hajj. He returned to Egypt, where he was appointed as the judge of Malikiyah. Then he went to Yemen and studied at the Zabid Mosque for about a year. He moved to India and died there in the city of Kalbarga. He had a number of works. According to a narration, he died in the year 827 AH. - In (Kashf al-Zunun 2: 1752 - 1753): ...It was composed in Egypt, then when he left for India, he explained it there in a longer explanation than him, and I say also, and he mentioned it in the prominent judge of the judiciary, the supervisor of the Diwan al-Insha, and he completed it in the year 818..., then he explained it a third time by clarifying the text, in red ink until he reached the letter F, and he did not complete it, and if he had completed it, it would have been the best of all the explanations. - By Al-Badr Al-Damamini in praise of (Al-Mughni):
Indeed, Mughni Al-Labib is a classified book *** with great grammar, containing his wishes
And it is nothing but a paradise that has been decorated *** Have you not looked at the eight chapters - Sections: First and Second = 243 BC, illustrated with fragments from a handwritten copy in the bookcase of Yahya Pasha Al-Jalili School in Mosul (numbers: Classification 415 - D M T 2, Registry 257, Kh 4 - C).
