Notes Sections of the book: The book consists of two sections or parts: science and work, and science has three sections: 1 - Knowledge of natural matters, through which pathological matters are known when they disappear. 2 - Knowledge of the causes. 3 - Knowledge of evidence, which is signs. In explaining it, the author relies on the method of questioning, where he poses it and then answers it, such as saying, “What are natural things?” How many are there? Answer: Natural matters are the things by which the body is established through its existence, and they are seven: the elements, the temperaments, the humours, the organs, the powers, the actions, and the souls. In the second section, he talks about medicines and their applicable laws and their effects on the organs. There are, for example, medicines that strengthen the stomach, medicines that purify the spleen, and the kidneys. He also talks about the upper arm, cupping, fevers, gynecological diseases, and the veins... He also warns of the necessity of not using strange, unknown medicines before trying them. The book ends with a final title: On the things that the doctor is forced to know regarding the patient’s condition. The language of the book is full of grammatical and spelling errors, and in the margins of the pages there are some comments and corrections.
Sample Text In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and in Him we seek help... As for the next, this is the book of choosing a succinct collection of the issue and responding to the answer. So we say, and God is our helper: What is the definition of medicine? How many parts is it? Medicine is a science through which the conditions of a person’s body are known, in terms of what is healthy and what goes away from health, in order to preserve what is healthy and restore what is bad. It is two parts: science and work.
