Notes The author tells us in his introduction that he had previously been asked to compile the merits of the two learned sheikhs, rare and marvelous of time, my master Abu Abdullah Muhammad al-Humairi and his predecessor, Sir Abu Zaid Abd al-Rahman al-Humairi, who were both servants and righteous people. So he wrote his book and made it into twenty chapters, devoting the first seven of them to mentioning the descriptions of the saints and answering their supplications, and what God Almighty bestowed upon them of the miracles, and responding to those who denied the miracles. In the eighth, the lineage of Sheikh Abu Abdullah and his upbringing. He is Muhammad Ibn Abd al-Karim Ibn Abd al-Wahid. He was born in poor conditions and grew up there. He followed the path of Sufism, and ended up with the presidency in that. People gathered around him, and he was well-mannered and well-minded. Then he describes his and his brother Abu Zaid’s dignity, mentions his struggles, and cites for us the hadiths that indicate the virtue of the poor, and clarifies the disagreement between the rich and the thankful and the patient poor, and the path to reaching God. Glory be to Him, and Abu Abdullah Muhammad died in Shawwal in the year 678 AH/1279 AD at the age of sixty.
