Notes
It contains the biographies of forty memorizers (Al-Dhahabi said in “Al-Sir” (22/67): “And when I saw them, my desire was moved to collect the memorizers and their conditions.” He called it “The Forty in the Classes of Memorization” and the author cited this book as number 570) the first of whom was Al-Zuhri and the last of whom was Ibn Makula. It has many benefits. The copy was read to him and his handwriting was heard. The author, Imam Hafez, was born in 544 AH. He had the right to be late, and in the first edition he was “Ibn al-Mufaddal.”
