He came from Banu Bakr and died in Kufa in the year one hundred and twenty-seven. Abu Bakr, who is Shu`bah bin Ayyash bin Salim al-Kufi al-Asadi, was a client of theirs. It was said that Salem, and it was said that his nickname was his name, and it was said otherwise that he died in Kufa in the year one hundred and ninety-four.
