Notes
A book containing the legacy of the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, and the paths in which he, peace and blessings of God be upon him, directed it. It is a narration from his son, Abu Ishaq Ibrahim bin Hammad, on his authority. It was mentioned in it that if the Messenger had wished, he could have been given the treasures of the earth, but he was abstaining from money, and he mentioned hadiths about his lack of provisions, his feeding people from what was little, and his distribution of alms and spoils, and that he was not given an inheritance. Fatima asked for Fadak from Abu Bakr and his abstention from that. The author responded to those who said that the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, gave Fadak a cut, and he cited what he narrated about what the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, took of clothing, camels, sheep, horses, weapons, and servants. As for what he left out, it is Endowed alms. The copy ended here before the book was completed, and most of it is narrations with chain of transmission. The owner of the copy, Abdul Jalil bin Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Tahawi, commented it from his sheikh’s copy.
