Notes
1- (Abdul Latif): In the sermon of the book: Ibn Abdullah, and also in the beginning of the manuscript and in the copies of his other translation: Ibn Abd al-Latif. 2- He has a treatise in response to the questions of Minister Abd al-Rahman Pasha, the governor of Egypt, which he called (The Essential Contracts with the Levantine Geodes), a copy of which is in the Qadiriyya Library (Al-Khattab al-Khattab 1/224), and we did not find its title or the name of its author mentioned there. 3- (Abdul Raouf Pasha) is not mentioned in the list of governors of Egypt (Zambauer: Dictionary of Genealogies and Dynasties 250).
Sample Text
The Sheikh of Islam and Muslims, the chief of the working and investigating scholars... Sheikh Ahmed... son of Sheikh Abdullah Al-Bashishi Al-Shafi’i - may God grant us a period of time and restore His blessings to us - says: Praise be to God who taught with the pen, taught man what he did not know and made him all-hearing and perceptive... And then he responded to me with elegant questions and precise indications from His Eminence the Grand Vizier and the distinguished Field Marshal... Our Lord, Vizier Abd al-Raouf Pasha - may God grant him whatever goodness he desires. By my life, his questions included sciences that highlighted the overwhelming evidence from its place and confined its wild creatures to their place of origin, so I could not help but comply with his command.
