Notes The name of the compiler of these records, which was in the margin of a book by Ibn al-Banna al-Azdi al-Marrakshi, was not mentioned in the copy. The author of these restrictions states in the preface of the book that after reading the student’s curriculum book, “Reading, Research and Investigation,” he sought help in understanding his problems by reading other books on art and the rules of the science of body science. Because of that, he gathered for him “in the margin of a copy of it restrictions that included pearls and benefits,” so he proceeded to edit them at the request of the governor of the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque, Mr. Muhammad bin Abd al-Qadir, and other eminent people. The book is organized into an introduction and twenty-four sections. Reading it becomes clear that the author derived his restrictions in the margins of the book Minhaj al-Talib from a number of astronomers. *He is Abu Al-Hasan Ali bin Abdullah Haydur Al-Tadli, who died in Fez in 816 AH / 1413 AD, commentator on the book “Al-Talkhees” by Ibn Al-Banna.
Sample Text Praise be to God who has illuminated with knowledge the heart of those whom He has chosen from among His creation... And then the science of knowing the anatomy of the upper world and knowing the movement of its bodies... is one of the best things by which a human being can be perfected... And for the astronomical sciences is the science of modification... And one of the best things he has written about is... Written by Imam... Abi Abbas Ahmad bin Al-Azdi Al-Marakshi Al-Maz’id on the nineteenth day of Dhul-Qi’dah Al-Haram, completed in the year six hundred and fifty-four in Marrakesh, in which he died on the fifth Saturday of Rajab Al-Fird in the year twenty-one. And seven hundred - what is called Minhaj al-Talib in amending the planets, as he is the one who said in the scholarly investigator Ibn Hidur* in his consideration the following: “What is considered in the amendment is the marriage of Ibn al-Banna based on the observations of Ibn Ishaq al-Tunisi, even though in our time a flaw has appeared in some of his amendments. The right to amend is to amend with the close observation of the time for which the amendment is requested and nothing else is considered, and if many observations were made at the same time by different people, it depends on the record of the most knowledgeable of them regarding the principles required.”
