The author was born in Tul Karam in Palestine, moved to Jerusalem and lived there, then moved to Cairo and died there. He wrote about seventy books, including: Founded in the Virtue of the Arabs, Ahkam al-Basa fi the First House Established for People, Ghayat al-Muntaha, and others. The author arranged this book into fourteen chapters: Chapter One: On knowing the method of writing. Chapter Two: On words of greeting and correspondence. Chapter Three: On correspondence with kings and ministers. Chapter Four: On mentioning descriptions and titles. Chapter Five: On mentioning supplications. Chapter Six: On letters of longing. Chapter Seven: On letters of reproach. Chapter Eight: On letters of congratulations. Chapter Nine: On condolences. Chapter Ten: On intercessions. Chapter Eleven: On books executed with gifts. Chapter Twelve: On urging. On appointments and complaints about the situation. Chapter Thirteen: On Answers to Books and Letters. Chapter Fourteen: On Sermons and Advice.
