The Sheikh, Imam, and scholar, Abu al-Ma’ali al-Hamdhani, may God be pleased with him, said: Know, may God guide you and us, that the likeness of a believer is like a city, and his soul and limbs are like a fortress for that city, and faith in his heart is like a king in his palace, and the king has a bed, which is monotheism, and a crown, which is love, and he has a minister, which is reason, and he has a guard, which is knowledge, and he has a secret holder, which is remembrance, and he has a companion, which is asceticism.
