Notes
A brief treatise on working with the astrolabe, organized into ten chapters. It begins - as is usual in such treatises - with an explanation of the parts of the astrolabe and then explains how to use it for timing purposes. The treatise ends with a chapter on knowing the times of the noon and afternoon prayers. In the margins there are footnotes and comments. There are copies of this manuscript in (Al-Azhar Library 6: 298 - see The Astrolabe and what was written in it by Korgis Awad, extracted from Sumer magazine, Baghdad, vol. 13, 1957, p. 166).
Sample Text
Praise be to God, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth... And after that, I want - God willing - to make a restriction that will be the masterpiece of the beloved in the essentials and principles of the science of the astrolabe at night and day, and all of that is based on approximation and abbreviation.
