Notes The first part of the book is in one volume. In this book, the author Ibn Hudhayl intended to collect news and benefits related to sports, weapons, horses, and the management of war affairs, relying - as stated in the introduction - on several books, such as the book of Ibn Yunus on the jurisprudence of jihad, the book Sirat Ajwad al-Anjad on the Ranks of Jihad, the book Tahdheeb al-Amaan on Courage and the Brave, the politics of Ibn Hazm, and the book Siraj al-Muluk and Systems of Behavior... The author divided his book into two parts: the first section is on jihad and ribat and what is related to them and contains On twenty chapters; The second section is about horses and weapons and what is related to them, and it also contains twenty chapters. The second section of this book was published by the French Consul Louis Mercier, entitled: The Ornament of the Knights and the Motto of the Brave. He issued it in a handwritten edition copied from a copy kept in the Royal Library in the Escorial, in which the name of the author was not mentioned - Paul Guitnar, Paris 1922.
