Notes These are selected poems from pre-Islamic poetry and early Islamic poetry. It was chosen by Abu Zaid Muhammad bin Abi Al-Khattab Al-Qurashi, one of the scholars of the fourth century AH. The last of them is the poem of Al-Tarmah bin Hakim Al-Dhadia, which begins: Say, on the shore of Nahrawan, I seek refuge *** and the passion of the sick eyes called me, and it is from the crowd. Then the poem Imru’ al-Qais, which begins: Good morning, you worn-out ruin *** and will anyone who was in the empty era be blinded by the phrases that are at the beginning of the poems written in red?
