Notes
This is the title of the following book by Al-Khatib Al-Tabrizi, while the title of Al-Dahlawi’s book is: The Names of Men in the Niche of the Lights (Brockelmann Appendix 621/1 and Appendix 262/2). The text was generally written in black ink, and the copyist used red ink to write the names of male and female narrators, the letters of hadith books, and so on. Its copies: See Brockelmann 2/195 and its appendix 1/621. Our copy was described in the Aligarh Index 114/2, descriptive catalog with the same number.
Sample Text
Ibn Abd al-Barr, the author of Al-Isti’ab, narrated with his chain of transmission from Abdullah bin Masoud, may God be pleased with him. He said that God looked at the hearts of the servants and found the heart of Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, the best of the hearts of the servants, so he chose him and sent him his message. Then he looked at the hearts of the servants after the heart of Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, and found the hearts of his companions the best of the hearts of the servants, so he made them the ministers of his Prophet.
