Notes The aforementioned book of interpretation is famous for its great interpretation. Hajj Khalifa mentioned it (Kashf al-Zunun 1: 439), and called it “Tafsir Ibn Muqatil” and attributed it to Suleiman bin Bishr al-Azdi. About me investigating it: Dr. Abdullah Mahmoud Shehata. He adopted a number of written copies, which he mentioned in the introduction that he wrote and published (Part One). He wrote an extensive study about it, which he stated would appear in a separate volume after the “Tafsir” appears. The text occupied four parts. Each part includes a quarter of the Holy Quran. The Imam Muqatil mentioned in the title is: Muqatil bin Sulaiman bin Bishr al-Azdi with loyalty, al-Balkhi, Abu al-Hasan: one of the most prominent commentators. He is originally from Balkh. He moved to Basra. He entered Baghdad and spoke there. He died in Basra in the year 150 AH/767 AD. He wrote a group of books, most of which were on interpretation. This is a photocopy of a manuscript in the British Museum's bookcase (No. Or.6333). The copy from which this copy was copied is located in Ahmed III’s bookcase in Istanbul, a written copy of it in two parts, which topped the other copies approved by the “Tafsir” investigator. One of them is pictured in the bookcase of Yahya Pasha Al-Jalili School in Mosul.
